Build a Shaker-Style Bench with a Windsor-Style Base

Learn how to make this stunning bench, designed in the Shaker style but with Windsor legs. In this video, Paul Duffy, a content creator in Colorado, shows how to make this bench with the following features:

  • Legs, stretchers, and spindles turned on a lathe
  • Drilled, angled holes through the seat for these turned elements to attach
  • A shaped seat made by cutting a cove on the table saw, a large round-over on the router table, and plenty of hand tool work
  • Legs that attach to the seat with through wedged tenons
  • A multistep finish that combines milk paint and a shellac topcoat
