There’s no more versatile power tool in a woodworking shop than the router. It can rout decorative profiles and countless types of joinery and can be used to flatten warped or uneven boards. It can be used with finesse as well as with gusto. It can run at speeds ranging from 10,000 rpm to the mid-20,000s. And best of all, a router can be used handheld or mounted upside down in a router table.

Using a router in a router table creates many advantages over handheld routing:

  • Better visibility of the bit in action
  • Better chip/dust collection
  • The ability to use larger-diameter bits, such as 3-1/2” panel-raisers
  • The capability of safely routing workpieces too small for handheld routing
  • The ability to use various jigs and sleds to hold stock
  • For production use, the ability to use a power feeder

Add a router lift to any router table and you’ve got the immediate capability of making fine and coarse adjustments in bit height as well as easily changing bits above the table.

Fortunately, SawStop makes three premium router tables as well as a premium router lift and lots of other accessories. The SawStop Standalone Router Table (RT-FS) comes with its own steel-frame stand, casters for mobility, our largest cast iron table (24”x32”), a 32” split-face fence with T-track, and an auxiliary power switch (so you don’t have to reach below the table to turn the router on and off). Adjustments in the stand allow you to raise the table surface to a height best suited for you, from 34-1/2” to 36-1/2” tall. And the top features a 9-1/4”x11-3/4” rabbeted opening for the router lift plate (the most common size in the category) as well as a standard 3/8”x3/4” miter slot and a narrower T-track slot.

SawStop also makes two Inline Router Tables that fit on the right side of the saw between the fence rails on our cast iron table saws, replacing the table board support. They can also mount to the left wing of the saw’s cast iron top (beyond the fence rails). The 27” model (RT-TGP) fits the Professional Cabinet Saw and the Contractor Saw, while the 30” model (RT-TGI) fits the Industrial Cabinet Saw. These router tables feature the same router plate opening, miter and T-track slots, and auxiliary power switch. The fences are similar, but shorter in length to match the table size. Both inline tables include beefy steel legs to help support the extra weight.
